Whether you want to take an extra major, do a co-op placement, travel or study abroad, or you just need to slow down the pace, extending the length of your degree is a serious but viable option. It can make your degree stronger if you plan it effectively and use the opportunity to your advantage.

With much of the population concentrated in cities, they are an obvious place to find high profile opportunities for a new career. But not everyone has the interest or means to work in the city and it’s possible to find yourself in a small town with seemingly limited options.

Andrea Kligman, a recent graduate from Queen’s University’s commerce program, spent nearly a year in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa to gain some international marketing experience and to take in some of Australia’s incredible sights and culture.
